Scarecrow Dreams WIP 1

This is WIP 1 in a journey of who knows how many... I guess till its done.

Scarecrow Dreams is a Novella that I have been working on for quite some time. Without giving the entire story, I'll just say that its about a young mother who dies tragically in a car accident. Her son, Harper, who has gone to live with his grandparents in Kansas decides that the Spring Scarecrow should be dressed in some of his mother's old clothes. This opens a gateway for Helena to aid her parents in saving their farm... and their lives. Before Helena died she had no idea that her parents had been having trouble with the bank. Taxes on the farm were just too much after last years bad harvest. Politics wanted that land... for a new strip mall and entertainment center and they were willing to do ANYTHING to get it. Once the sun set each night, Helena could slip away from the hateful pole she was lifelessly tied to by day, to defend and protect her family, her land and their lives. Cat-like she would hunt down her prey and stand guard over those who would set fire to the barn, the house, the fields. Harper catches a glimpse of his mother one night and begins his own quest... to speak to her once more. There is only one catch: she has to make it back to the pole by dawn and black oblivion or risk being found lifeless and stuffed wherever she may fall. Sometimes the race back to the fields is just a bit too close...

Story concept was dreamed up with my beloved Kevin Carrico... who still needs his ASS KICKED! Love you Kev!

There is SO MUCH WORK to be done on this... but I'm too tired to do it tonight.

I plan on running it thru Painter to see what happens next.
I'm going to keep a running tab of hours and then tally at the end.
