The Moon Has Two Faces

~ I am the Moon, but I have two faces, one that shines brightly and casts glimmering light on lovers and dreamers. That is My Face that you see... when you look up and dream the dreams only the Moon can bring to Life. I am melancholy, and even though my Sister sits next to me I am alone in the Heaven's, watching the Earth spin day into night. Long ago She turned her Face from it. Never again to see its beauty or passion... but still Her Magick weaves its spell over those that look upon us, our shining orb... for She exudes the mysteries of the night. She is the shadows and secrets, the things that are kept silent - the Dark Face of the Moon. Yes, The Moon has Two Faces...


I found this old photograph on a disk of stock Vintage photos and fell in love with it. I did an enormous amount of overpainting... then I decided to make the eyes of the "moon goddeses" larger than normal... I have NO idea why... but I kind of like the effect. I tried the make their skirts look a bit like the sea washing up onto a shore but since I'm still beginning with digital painting, I don't think I quite hit the mark. Oh well... more to practice on. I also changed the curves on this in photoshop to give it the "glowing" effect and adjusted the hue, saturation, brightness, and contrast about 50 times! (kidding...but it felt like it) till I felt the image looked like the glow of the moon. I hope you enjoy it.
